Electricians in Ukraine find a hamster on a high-voltage line and help it down
During overhead power line repairs in Ukraine's Rivne region, workers spotted a hamster on a high-voltage wire. They lowered the line so the animal could jump into the grass, then restored the line and its power.

Electricians carrying out repairs on an overhead power transmission line in Ukraine's Rivne region noticed an unusual visitor on a high-voltage wire: a small hamster. The moment was captured on video, which has since been published by the media.
Line service workers from the company Rivneoblenergo initially could not tell what was on the wire. In the footage, the crew first assumes it is a rat, then jokingly suggests it might be a beaver. It turned out to be a hamster.
How the animal got up there
How the hamster ended up on a wire at the height of a two-storey house remains unknown. The likely explanation is that it clung to the line by accident while the wire was being tightened. At first, the workers had not noticed the small creature.
The rescue
Once the initial surprise passed, the crew quickly worked out a safe plan. They lowered the wire closer to the ground, letting the bewildered hamster jump off into the grass.
After the animal had safely returned to the wild, the wire was tightened again and the line was reconnected to power.
