Ukraine strikes six Russian shadow fleet vessels and ten energy facilities
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces hit 102 Russian assets overnight, including six shadow fleet vessels in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov and ten energy facilities in occupied territories.
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF), through its "Magyar's Birds" unit, struck 102 Russian assets overnight on 6-7 August, according to USF Commander Robert "Magyar" Brovdi.
Among the targets were six shadow fleet vessels operating in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov — two tankers and four dry cargo ships. The shadow fleet refers to vessels Russia uses to circumvent international sanctions on its oil exports.
Energy and military infrastructure hit
The strikes also hit ten energy facilities, along with two depots storing fuel, lubricants and ammunition, two radar systems, and a Buk surface-to-air missile system. Locomotives and fuel tankers were also damaged.
Brovdi said that between 1 July and 7 August, the USF has struck a total of 211 energy facilities in temporarily occupied territories as part of an operation called "Crimean Switch Off".
Recent pattern of attacks
The overnight strikes follow a series of recent operations: on 4-5 August, the USF hit 13 energy facilities in Russian-occupied territories within 48 hours, while on 28-29 July it struck 10 energy facilities in Crimea and occupied parts of Kherson and Luhansk oblasts.
