According to a reported order, Ukraine has set a temporary pause in hostilities covering the period from September 5 to 8. The announcement coincides with a visit by United States envoys to Moscow, as Washington attempts to revive peace negotiations following months of deadlock between Russia and Ukraine.

Despite the announced pause, Russian forces reportedly continued their attacks at the very moment the ceasefire was due to take effect. An air raid alert was reported in Kyiv immediately as the pause began, suggesting military activity persisted regardless of the officially declared halt in fighting.

The move comes within a broader push by Washington to make progress on the peace process after a prolonged stalemate. It remains unclear whether the temporary ceasefire will hold for its full intended duration, given that attacks reportedly continued right from its outset.
