Ukraine vows to destroy all Wildberries warehouses by mid-September
Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi has promised to eliminate all Wildberries warehouses in Russia by mid-September. Kyiv has been striking the e-commerce giant's facilities since mid-July, saying it helps supply the Russian military.
Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, also known by the alias "Magyar," said in an interview with The Baltic Sentinel that all warehouses of the Russian e-commerce platform Wildberries would be destroyed by mid-September. He insisted that nothing would remain of the facilities.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and military analysts have said Wildberries warehouses are used to supply the Russian army, including with sanctioned drone components and navigation equipment. Brovdi described the strikes as a call for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to pull his troops out of Ukraine, noting the company actively supports the war.
According to Reuters, Ukrainian forces have attacked nearly 20 Wildberries sites since mid-July. The company operates close to 100 sorting centers and warehouses across Russia. Some estimates cited by The Baltic Sentinel put Wildberries' losses from the attacks at more than €1 billion, with approximately 27% of its warehouse space possibly lost.
Brovdi suggested the attacks could also influence Russian society, as more than one million sellers use the platform. Meanwhile, The Moscow Times, citing analysts and central bank data, reported that rescuing Wildberries and keeping it operational could cost over one trillion rubles, or about €10.6 billion.
