The Ukrainian military has found a novel way to deploy its tiny interceptor drones: by launching them from aged Sea King helicopters. These naval helicopters, originally manufactured in the 1970s, have been adapted to carry and release small drones designed to neutralize enemy unmanned aerial vehicles. This approach allows the interceptor drones to reach their targets faster and extends their operational range. The Sea Kings, once used for anti-submarine warfare and search-and-rescue missions, are now repurposed as mobile launch platforms in the fight against Russian drones. Specific technical details and the exact type of interceptor drones remain undisclosed.
