Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Sunday that Ukraine had launched its largest-ever drone attack on the Russian capital. The strike came on the final day of Russia's parliamentary election and was reportedly an attempt to disrupt the vote, though it failed to do so.
The attack hit an oil refinery, sending plumes of smoke into the air from the resulting fires. Russian President Vladimir Putin has cast the election as a test of public support for Russia's war against Ukraine.

On Friday, the United States approved a potential sale of air defense equipment to Ukraine worth $2.68 billion, following repeated appeals from Kyiv for support to counter Russian attacks.
That same day, a Russian glide bomb struck an apartment building in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy, killing two people and injuring seven, three of them seriously.
This round of Russian parliamentary elections marked the first time that residents of regions Moscow illegally annexed from Ukraine were included, more than four and a half years after the start of the full-scale invasion.
