Ukraine launches one of its largest drone strikes on Russia
On Sunday, August 16, Ukraine carried out what may be one of its largest drone attacks on Russia to date, striking targets including a logistics center near Moscow. Russian officials report downed drones and several deaths.

Over the weekend, Ukraine carried out what is believed to be one of the largest drone strikes of the war so far. Russia's Defense Ministry reported that 1,478 drones were shot down across the country's territory.
Moscow's mayor said around 600 drones had targeted the capital, of which air defenses managed to intercept 201. Six people reportedly lost their lives in the attack.
One of the targets was a logistics center belonging to online retailer Wildberries, located roughly 40 kilometers south of Moscow. The facility was destroyed, and local residents gathered to watch firefighting efforts at the smoldering ruins.
Strikes on satellite internet infrastructure
The previous Sunday, Ukraine's long-range Flamingo missiles had struck two Russian facilities involved in building a new domestic satellite internet network. The project is being developed as an alternative to America's Starlink, which Russian forces can no longer access — a limitation that has hampered their drone operations.
