Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Wednesday he was resigning as part of President Volodymyr Zelensky's cabinet reshuffle, which had already led to the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Parliament approved her resignation on Tuesday.

Fedorov, who took office in January at age 35, was the youngest defence minister in Ukraine's history. In a lengthy Telegram post listing his ministry's achievements, he highlighted the development of drone production and use since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, as well as the launch of sweeping army reforms.

The minister was an early advocate of the growing use of drones, which have become a hallmark of the conflict on the front line. He also secured a deal with Elon Musk to provide Starlink satellite connectivity for Ukrainian troops and to restrict Russian forces' access to it.

According to Ukrainian media, Fedorov could be replaced by the current interior minister, Ihor Klymenko.
