Ukraine's military arsenal could soon be expanded with a new strike drone of domestic origin. The aircraft has been developed by the company F-Drones, which announced the possible delivery on its Facebook page. According to the manufacturer, the F-CAPTAIN unmanned aerial vehicle is built to operate in a variety of conditions and can carry out missions around the clock.

The company says the drone has a maximum take-off weight of 27 kilograms and can carry up to 10 kilograms of useful payload. It is equipped with day and thermal imaging cameras, allowing operations both in daylight and at night. Thanks to its own navigation and control software, the F-CAPTAIN can operate without a GPS signal, which makes it more resilient to enemy electronic warfare systems.

For communications, the aircraft has a protected channel and supports the Starlink system. Even if contact is lost during the final stage of flight, the drone can still reach its target thanks to autonomous target recognition and so-called “last mile” systems.

The F-CAPTAIN is intended for destroying stationary and moving targets at medium range, up to 100 kilometres. Its primary targets are expected to include Russian radars, air defence systems, command posts, warehouses and logistics facilities.

It is not yet known when Ukraine's Defence Ministry will authorise the use of the F-CAPTAIN in the armed forces. The manufacturer notes that such a process usually does not take much time nowadays.
