Five people, including a child, were wounded overnight Monday when Ukrainian drones struck the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, local officials reported. Emergency services said only one of the injured required hospitalization, while three homes sustained damage in the attack.

Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin said firefighters had put out blazes sparked by the strike and urged residents to stay away from any drone wreckage found in the area.

In the neighboring Rostov region, Governor Yury Slyusar said air defenses shot down 50 drones. He noted damage to civilian infrastructure but said no casualties were reported there.

Russia's Defense Ministry said that between Sunday night and Monday morning, it intercepted a total of 399 Ukrainian drones across the country and annexed Crimea.

Deadly strike in Chernihiv region

Across the border in Ukraine, a Russian strike on a farm warehouse in the northern Chernihiv region killed three people and wounded seven others, police said Monday.

The attack followed a Russian strike a day earlier on a passenger train near Ukraine's border with Poland. A train reportedly carrying European officials had passed through the same area shortly beforehand. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said the strike was an attempt by Russia to intimidate and divide European nations.
