Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' unmanned systems struck eight Russian shadow fleet tankers in the Sea of Azov overnight on Tuesday, announced Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's drone forces. He also released a video showing the attacks on the vessels that were transporting fuel.
According to Brovdi, the damaged tankers include Venera-3, Sanar-1, Sanar-17, Klimena, Teti, Aleksey Savrasov, and Penelopa, with the name of one tanker still being identified. All ships were built between 2006 and 2012 and are subject to international sanctions. The commander added that a cargo ship and a ferry were also damaged in the attacks.
"The shadow fleet leaves the chat. Eight tankers of the Russian Federation's shadow fleet were detected and destroyed in one night," Brovdi said, noting that "the battle for fuel for Crimea in the Sea of Azov continues." The tankers suffered extensive damage and fires broke out.
During the same night, the Ukrainian army also destroyed 58 military targets in Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories. Brovdi revealed that energy nodes in Crimea were destroyed, which "burned along with logistics."
