Ukrainian drones strike Ust-Luga port; Russian attacks kill civilians in Sumy and Kramatorsk
Overnight Ukrainian drone attacks caused a fire at Russia's Ust-Luga port and damaged a Wildberries warehouse. Russian strikes on Sumy region and Kramatorsk left several civilians dead and wounded.
On the 1,633rd day of Russia's full-scale war, Ukrainian drones targeted multiple sites inside Russia, while Russian forces continued strikes against Ukrainian cities.
Ust-Luga port hit
Leningrad Oblast governor Alexander Drozdenko said 54 drones attacked the region overnight. The strikes damaged the port of Ust-Luga, causing a fire. By after 8:00 Moscow time, Drozdenko said all consequences of the attack had been eliminated and there were no casualties. Ust-Luga is among Russia's largest Baltic Sea ports, handling exports of roughly 700,000 barrels of crude oil per day, along with naphtha, fuel oil and vacuum gasoil. The port has been a repeated target of Ukrainian attacks.
Wildberries warehouse damaged
Tver Oblast governor Vitaly Korolev reported that, while repelling the overnight drone attack, debris from a drone damaged a wall of a Wildberries warehouse in Kalinin district. The resulting smoke was quickly eliminated, and no employees were hurt.
Moscow says 10 drones downed
Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin said ten drones were intercepted on the approaches to the capital. Emergency services were at the sites where debris fell.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
In Sumy Oblast, Russian forces hit a private home with two drones in the Buryn community. A 29-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son were killed; four other people were wounded, according to regional governor Oleh Hryhorov. Two of the wounded – the boy's father and grandmother – were hospitalized with severe burns.
On the evening of 13 August, Russian forces carried out a series of strikes on Kramatorsk and nearby Bilenke in Donetsk Oblast. Preliminary reports said one person was killed and 15 others were wounded. Oblast head Vadym Filashkin said eight strikes were launched between 20:30 and 20:56 local time, likely using aerial bombs. A residential building was hit in Kramatorsk; video published by UNIAN showed part of a nine-story building collapsed and a fire burning. People may still be under the rubble.
Russian losses according to Ukraine
Ukraine's General Staff estimated Russian combat losses from 24 February 2022 to 14 August 2026 at about 1,464,440 personnel (up 1,470), 12,264 tanks, 25,141 armored fighting vehicles, 47,870 artillery systems, 2,024 MLRS, 1,565 air defense units, 2,229 ground robotic complexes, 459,649 tactical UAVs, 133,853 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,524 pieces of special equipment. Ukraine does not regularly publish its own losses.
