Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Fuel Infrastructure in Ulyanovsk Region

In the early hours of Thursday, Ukrainian drones targeted the Novospassk district in Russia's Ulyanovsk region. The attack hit a local fuel and energy infrastructure facility, sparking a fire accompanied by flames and black smoke.

Governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexei Russkikh, confirmed the drone strike, stating that the drones had damaged the fuel and energy complex's infrastructure. He noted that emergency services were assessing the damage but did not provide any information on possible casualties.

Local residents and Russian media have speculated that the target may have been the NS-Oil oil refinery or its adjacent fuel infrastructure. This information has not been officially confirmed.

The attack is part of Ukraine's ongoing strategy over recent months to consistently strike Russia's oil and fuel infrastructure. Kyiv believes such strikes reduce Russia's capacity to finance the war and supply its army with fuel. This month alone, Ukrainian drones have repeatedly attacked oil refineries, oil terminals, and other energy facilities across various Russian regions.
