Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow region overnight on Sunday in what regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov described as one of the largest attacks the area has faced. An 83-year-old man was killed in the strike, and several other people were injured.

Multiple sites hit

Writing on Telegram, Vorobyov said the heaviest damage occurred in Podolsk, where a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, Russia's largest online retailer, was struck. Damage was also reported at other locations, including a warehouse in Domodedovo, a town near one of Moscow's main airports.

Russia's Defense Ministry said 822 Ukrainian drones were shot down across the country overnight. Reuters video from the scene showed a large plume of smoke rising over Wildberries' Koledino warehouse, located about 45 kilometers (28 miles) south of Moscow.

Part of a wider campaign

In recent weeks, Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Wildberries, accusing the company of handling military-related goods. The strikes form part of a broader effort by Kyiv to disrupt Russian economic infrastructure that it says helps sustain Moscow's war effort.
