Ukrainian drones strike Ozon warehouse in Orenburg region as four hurt in Kharkiv attack

Ukraine's armed forces struck a warehouse belonging to Russian online retailer Ozon in Chapaevsk, Samara region, overnight on August 22. Separately, a drone strike in Kharkiv injured four people, while a supermarket manager in Kryvyi Rih faces negligence charges over a deadly mall strike.

Ukraine's armed forces used drones to strike a logistics warehouse belonging to Russian online marketplace Ozon in Chapaevsk, Samara region, overnight on August 22, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels and Russian media.

Debris from the drones fell on the logistics complex, sparking a fire that was quickly extinguished by Russian emergency services personnel. Ozon confirmed that more than 300 employees were evacuated from its facility in the Orenburg region. Deliveries to the warehouse have been temporarily suspended, and goods stored there will be hidden from the marketplace's listings. Ukraine's military has not officially commented on the strike.

Kharkiv drone strike

A drone strike on Kharkiv's Osnovyanskyi district injured four people, city mayor Ihor Terekhov reported. The strike sparked fires in two private homes, and emergency services are working at the scene.

Negligence suspicion in Kryvyi Rih

Ukraine's Interior Ministry announced that the director of a supermarket inside a Kryvyi Rih shopping mall, where 16 people were killed in a Russian drone strike on Friday, is suspected of professional negligence. According to Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko [Vyhovskyi], the store kept operating despite an air raid alert and city authorities' warnings to halt operations during such alerts — a significant number of the victims were found there. About 20 minutes passed between the air raid alert and the first drone strike. In total, 16 people were killed and roughly 130 injured when several drones hit the mall.

Ukraine's estimate of Russian losses

According to Ukraine's General Staff, Russia's total combat losses from February 24, 2022 through August 23, 2026 stand at approximately 1,476,580 personnel, along with more than 25,200 armored vehicles, nearly 48,500 artillery systems, and 440 aircraft. Ukraine does not regularly publish its own loss figures.
