At Least One Dead in Russian Strikes as Ukraine Hits Industrial Sites
Ukrainian drone attacks on Ryazan and Taganrog caused fires and casualties, while a Russian drone strike in Kherson killed one person; both sides continue to target shipping in the Black Sea.
Ukrainian drones struck several industrial facilities in the central Russian city of Ryazan on Wednesday, causing fires. Ryazan region Governor Pavel Malkov said six people sought medical attention but did not specify which facilities were hit. The region hosts major industrial complexes, an oil refinery, and a logistics hub.
Russia's largest online retailer Wildberries evacuated its warehouse in Ryazan. This is at least the seventh Wildberries facility targeted in recent days. The strikes have wiped out roughly 10% of the company's storage capacity, disrupting operations and causing heavy financial losses for tens of thousands of small businesses selling on the platform.
In a separate attack, missile debris hit an apartment building in the southern port city of Taganrog on the Sea of Azov, killing a woman and injuring a man, local authorities said. Taganrog is home to industrial plants and a major grain export terminal.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine's Kherson region, a man was killed and three others injured in a Russian drone attack, officials said. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed its drones struck two vessels carrying weapons and military equipment east of the port of Odesa. Both sides have intensified strikes on shipping in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov in recent weeks, causing a decline in regional oil and grain shipments.
