Three children killed as Ukrainian drones strike southern Russia
A Ukrainian drone attack on Russia's Krasnodar region killed three children overnight, while separate strikes hit Ozon warehouse facilities in several other southern regions.
Ukrainian drones struck several regions of southern Russia overnight into August 24. Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev initially reported two children killed, but Russian authorities later said the death toll had risen to three children.
According to Kondratyev, debris from a downed drone fell on a private children's center, injuring seven more children and two adults. The strike also sparked fires at nearby warehouse buildings.
Ozon warehouses hit
Separately, Ukrainian drones struck three warehouses belonging to online marketplace Ozon in different regions — Adygeysk, Makhachkala, and Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai — the company's press service confirmed.
No injuries were reported at the Adygeysk or Nevinnomyssk facilities, and Ozon said both the buildings and stored goods there remain intact, though the warehouses stay closed for now. In Makhachkala, however, a fire broke out and several people were injured and received medical treatment; that facility is not accepting deliveries and its goods will be unavailable.
Adygea's head, Murat Kumpilov, confirmed the attack caused a fire at an Ozon logistics center in the region's Takhtamukaysky district. Dagestan's acting governor, Fyodor Shchukin, said falling drone fragments in the Kumtorkalinsky district sparked a fire at warehouse facilities there, adding that no one was hurt.
Authorities in Stavropol Krai said air defenses repelled a drone attack targeting an industrial zone in Nevinnomyssk, though regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov did not comment further on the aftermath.
