Ukrainian soldier Serhii Dzon suffered a serious spinal injury on the front line that left him without sensation in his left arm and unable to control movement across nearly the entire left side of his body. Today, using a cane, he is able to move around at a fairly brisk pace and says he is glad that Latvian microsurgeons have worked wonders — he can now feel his left hand again and use it.

This is Serhii's second time coming to Latvia for rehabilitation. His treatment is taking place at the «Jaunķemeri» rehabilitation centre. His recovery process continues, and on September 4 he is scheduled to undergo another surgery to address his spinal injury.

The case reflects the involvement of Latvian medical specialists in treating and rehabilitating Ukrainian soldiers who have sustained injuries on the battlefield.
