Ukrainian forces have struck a vehicle used by Russian troops to launch Shahed-type attack drones. The operation was carried out by pilots of the Spalakh (Flash) Unmanned Systems Battalion, part of the 28th Separate Mechanised Brigade. They first recorded drone launches from an airfield and then targeted one of the launch vehicles.

"A rare target today – a vehicle used as a launcher for Shahed-type drones. A first," the battalion said in a statement. Launching Shahed drones from vehicles is one of several methods employed by Russian forces. The drone is attached to the cargo bed of a pickup truck, the truck accelerates along a straight road, and the drone lifts off from a guide rail launcher with its engine running.

This is not the first time Ukrainian defenders have struck such launchers. In late March, Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, confirmed that a group of vehicles was attacked at Donetsk airport during a drone launch. The 1st Separate Centre of the Unmanned Systems Forces (14th Regiment) recently reported taking Donetsk airport under fire control and destroying Shahed loitering munition launchers. In March, Ukrainian company Buntar Aerospace also released footage of strikes on Donetsk airport.
