Inside a Secretive Ukrainian Team Launching Deep Drone Strikes at Russia

Ukraine's long-range drones are striking deep inside Russia, up to 1,200 miles away, hitting oil refineries and depots. NPR recently spent time with one of the Ukrainian strike teams launching drones at Russian targets.

Ukraine continues to employ long-range drones to strike strategic targets deep within Russian territory. According to a report by NPR, these strikes reach distances of up to 1,200 miles (approximately 1,900 kilometers) from the border, primarily targeting oil refineries and fuel depots.

NPR correspondents recently spent time with one of the Ukrainian strike teams responsible for carrying out these attacks. The journalists observed the preparation and launch of unmanned aerial vehicles aimed at objectives far behind enemy lines.

These operations are part of a broader Ukrainian strategy to degrade Russia's military and economic capabilities, complicating its ability to sustain warfare. Attacks on oil infrastructure directly affect Russia's fuel supply chains.
