Ukraine's military struck the AVITEK defense plant in the Russian city of Kirov on Friday morning, according to independent media outlet Astra. The facility is a key part of Russia's military-industrial complex and specializes in manufacturing and servicing air defense systems. AVITEK is part of the Almaz-Antey conglomerate, Russia's largest producer of anti-aircraft weapons.

The plant produces military, dual-use, and civilian products, including air defense systems and aviation components. Ukrainian monitoring channels confirmed the attack on the enterprise.

Kirov region governor Aleksandr Sokolov stated that a missile attack was directed at the city, damaging the enterprise. No further details on the extent of damage or casualties have been released.
