Overnight Ukrainian drone and missile strikes across southern Russia killed one person and damaged several commercial and industrial sites, regional officials reported on Tuesday.

Acting Belgorod region Governor Alexander Shuvayev confirmed that one person died in a strike near the border with Ukraine. He also reported that a woman who had been hospitalized after being injured in an earlier attack this month has since died.

Warehouse Damaged in Taganrog

In the neighboring Rostov region, Governor Yury Slyusar said a missile attack on the port city of Taganrog damaged several sites, including a warehouse belonging to online retailer Ozon. The company confirmed it had suspended operations at the facility after a fire broke out there, adding that no one was injured.

Federal investigators opened a terrorism-related criminal case over the strikes on Taganrog, citing damage to the Ozon facility as well as residential and agricultural buildings.

Possible Fire at Oil Refinery

In the Samara region, Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev said an industrial facility was damaged in overnight strikes. Unconfirmed reports indicated a fire had broken out at the Syzran Oil Refinery. NASA's FIRMS fire-monitoring service showed an active fire on Tuesday morning on the southwestern outskirts of Syzran, where the refinery — which has already been targeted multiple times this year — is located.

Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted 222 Ukrainian drones across the country and annexed Crimea between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
