The Russian marketplace Wildberries and businesses selling on its platform have incurred losses of more than RUB 100 billion (US$1.3 billion) due to fires at logistics complexes in Moscow and Tambov oblasts, according to the Russian media outlet Vazhnye Istorii.

The estimate was based on the scale of damage from a 2024 fire at a Wildberries warehouse in Shushary, where a 105,800 sq m complex burned down. Insurance market representatives estimated direct losses at over RUB 10 billion (US$127 million). Wildberries paid RUB 34.9 billion (US$445 million) in compensation to sellers whose goods were destroyed. In April 2025, the company said it had settled 99.6% of compensation claims. At least 5,000 sellers lost goods worth more than RUB 1 million (US$12,700) each, though some were dissatisfied with payouts.

The logistics complex in Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast, is more than twice the size of the Shushary warehouse. Losses at the facility in Kotovsk, Tambov Oblast, covering about 108,000 sq m, have yet to be determined. A source close to Wildberries told The Bell that around 10-15% of total warehouse space has been affected but operations will not be completely paralyzed.

In the early hours of 18 July, Moscow and Moscow Oblast came under a large-scale drone attack. Fires broke out at an oil depot in Noginsk and at a Wildberries logistics centre in Elektrostal. Russian authorities reported dozens of casualties. Drones also attacked the town of Kotovsk in Tambov Oblast, causing a fire at a logistics centre. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the facilities hit were used to supply sanctioned components for drone and navigation equipment production.
