Ukrainska Pravda Wins Prestigious Italian Journalism Award
The Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska Pravda has been awarded the European prize of the Ischia International Journalism Award, one of Italy's most prestigious journalism honors. Chief editor Sevgil Musayeva and head of investigations Mykhailo Tkach received the award on July 11 on the island of Ischia.

Ukrainska Pravda, a leading independent Ukrainian media outlet, has won the European Award at the Ischia International Journalism Award, a prestigious Italian journalism prize established in 1980. The award is held under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, and its jury includes leaders of major Italian media organizations such as Corriere della Sera, la Repubblica, Il Sole 24 Ore, RAI, and ANSA.
Chief editor Sevgil Musayeva and investigations chief Mykhailo Tkach accepted the award on behalf of the newsroom during the ceremony on July 11 on the island of Ischia. This year, the International Award was given to British newspaper The Guardian, while Italian journalist of the year was Stefania Battistini, a special correspondent for RAI.
In her acceptance speech, Musayeva emphasized the significance of receiving the award as a European outlet. “Ukrainian society, Ukrainian journalists, and the Ukrainian people are deeply committed to European values. We fight for them. Our soldiers give their lives for them every day. That is why it is so important for us that you see us as part of the European family,” she said.
Musayeva also stressed that freedom, democracy, and freedom of speech are not guaranteed but require daily protection. She dedicated the award to the entire Ukrainska Pravda team, Ukrainian journalists continuing their work during the full-scale war, and Ukrainian soldiers, whose sacrifices enable independent media to operate in the country.
