Latvian national team forward Roberts Uldriķis has changed clubs, joining Dutch Eredivisie side Heerenveen. Commenting on the move, the striker said he considers it a positive step for his career and described himself as an ambitious footballer.

Previous spell in the Netherlands

This is not Uldriķis's first experience in Dutch football — from 2021 to 2024 he played for Cambuur in Leeuwarden. During that spell he made 49 top-flight appearances, scoring eight goals, seven of them in his first season. After Cambuur was relegated from the Eredivisie, he continued playing in the second division, where he scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in 32 matches.

Road to the new transfer

After leaving Cambuur, Uldriķis had a spell at Greek club Kallithea before signing with German second-division side Arminia Bielefeld in January 2025. Shortly after arriving in Germany he suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out of action for several months. Since January of this year he has recovered and played regularly, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 19 second-division matches this season, while also featuring in a German Cup match.

Upcoming match

Heerenveen will next play on Sunday at home against AZ Alkmaar. After four matches this season, the club has collected five points and sits 11th in the 18-team league.

Uldriķis's career began in Latvia — before the 2015 season he joined Riga club Metta, before moving to RFS in early 2017. In July 2018 he transferred to Swiss top-flight club Sion, where he spent more than three years, making over 80 appearances and contributing to 23 goals. For the Latvian national team, Uldriķis has scored eight goals in 56 matches.
