Estonian ultra-athlete Raitt Ratasepp has successfully completed a massive bike ride from Portugal to Estonia. He covered the distance of 5,148.4 kilometers in 13 days, 5 hours and 38 minutes, finishing on June 29 in the port of Räpina, accompanied by local fans. Initially, Ratasepp planned to complete the ride in 10 days, but the European route proved more challenging than expected due to high population density, narrow roads, and heavy traffic. Along the way, the athlete faced 40-degree heat, strong headwinds, a fall in Germany, and prolonged technical issues with his bike, according to Ratasepp's team.
"Compared to Race Across America, the European route turned out to be significantly harder. But even in such adventures, the goal must be ambitious. The expedition is successful anyway; we have gained valuable experience for future challenges," Ratasepp noted at the finish.
