Uščins scores six goals as Hannover claims dramatic win over top-of-table side

In a German Bundesliga handball match, Cēsis-born legionnaire Uščins scored six goals to help Hannover secure a dramatic victory over a top-of-table opponent, while other Latvian players lost their season-opening matches.

In a round of Germany's top handball league, the Bundesliga, Cēsis-born handball player Uščins, who represents Germany, was one of the key figures in Hannover's dramatic victory over one of the league's top-of-table teams.

Over 35.5 minutes on court, Uščins scored six goals, provided one assist, and made one interception. His efficiency rating in the match reached 89 out of a possible 100 points, tying for the best mark on the team.

In the previous league season, Uščins, described as an Olympic vice-champion, scored 137 goals from 252 shots, a conversion rate of 54.37 percent.

Other legionnaires start season with losses

Other Latvian handball players representing clubs in Germany's top league lost their opening matches of the season. Experienced player Dainis Krištopāns, from Ludza, scored two goals from five shots. Meanwhile, Bundesliga debutant Jānis Pāvels Valkovskis scored three goals from four attempts.

With six goals and a high efficiency rating, Uščins stood out among the Latvian legionnaires, whose teams have so far had a difficult start to the season.
