24 unemployed and 45 pensioners to run for 15th Saeima
Data from the Central Election Commission shows that 24 unemployed candidates from 12 party lists and 45 pensioners from 13 lists are running in the 15th Saeima elections. The highest number of unemployed is in the 'Latvia First' party, while the highest number of pensioners is in 'Harmony Centre'.
The Central Election Commission (CVK) has released information about candidates for the 15th Saeima elections, revealing a notable number of unemployed individuals and pensioners among the contenders. A total of 24 unemployed candidates from 12 different party lists are seeking one of the 100 parliamentary seats.
The largest group of unemployed – four – is from the “Latvija pirmajā vietā” (LPV) party list. Three unemployed candidates each are in the “Gobzema saraksts”, “Saskaņas centrs” (SC), and “Stabilitātei!” lists. Two unemployed candidates are running from “Latvijas attīstībai” (LA), “Progresīvie”, and the New Conservative Party (JKP). One unemployed candidate each appears on the lists of “Austošā saule Latvijai”, the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS), the United List (AS), “Mēs mainām noteikumus” (MMN), and the National Alliance (NA). The only lists without unemployed candidates are “Jaunā vienotība” (JV) and “Suverēnā vara”/”Apvienība Jaunlatvieši” (SV/AJ).
Furthermore, CVK reports that 45 pensioners from 13 lists are standing for election. The highest number of pensioners – nine – is from SC, followed by six each from LPV and JKP, and four each from NA and LA. Three pensioners are on the ASL, ZZS, and SV/AJ lists. Two pensioners each are from JV and “Gobzema saraksts”, while one each is from “Progresīvie”, “Stabilitātei!”, and MMN. The AS list has no pensioners.
As previously announced, the 15th Saeima elections will take place on October 3 this year. A total of 1,431 candidates from 14 lists will compete.
