Six injured, one dead in crash on Ventspils highway
A road accident near Straupciems on the Ventspils highway left six people injured, one of whom died at the scene. The crash involved a truck and several cars.
A traffic accident occurred today near Straupciems on the Ventspils highway, leaving six people injured, Latvia's Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) reported.
One of the injured died at the scene despite paramedics' efforts to save their life.
Three other victims with various injuries were taken to hospital, while two people who were hurt declined hospitalization.
Five medical teams responded
Five NMPD teams worked at the scene, including a specialist physician team that is only deployed in the most critical cases.
Road blocked
The crash involved a truck and several passenger cars. The truck overturned onto its side, blocking both traffic lanes.
State company Latvijas Valsts ceļi advised drivers to use detours via the Kalnciems–Kūdra road or the Liepāja highway.
