Enough Phone opens preorders for compact 5.3-inch smartphone
Enough Phone is taking preorders for its first smartphone, which has a 5.3-inch screen and a user-replaceable battery. It costs $399 for a limited time and $599 afterward.

Enough Phone, a smartphone start-up, begins taking preorders today for its first device, built around a small 5.3-inch screen. The company is testing whether people who say they want smaller phones will actually buy one. The first modern smartphones had 3.5-inch displays, but today's models are far larger.
The product's name reflects its approach: it is not a flagship, but a phone that should be "enough" for most users. It costs $399 for a limited time, with a suggested retail price of $599.
Specifications
The phone uses a mid-range MediaTek Dimensity 7500 processor, 8 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage with microSD support. The display is a 5.3-inch HD+ LCD with a 1520×720 resolution. There is a single 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 rear camera and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The body is polycarbonate, and the fingerprint sensor is built into the power button.
The 3,500 mAh battery is user-replaceable: as with the Fairphone, removing a few screws and the back cover is enough. This makes the device somewhat thicker, but at 133×64×12 mm its footprint is almost the same as that of the iPhone 13 Mini.
Software and open questions
Buyers can choose a standard Google-certified build of Android 17 or OdysseyOS, a streamlined, de-Googled version of Android that behaves like a basic phone and has no browser at all.
Some details remain undecided. The designers are not yet sure about waterproofing and durability ratings, and the battery capacity could change, though they hope it would go up rather than down. Carrier support is also unclear: the phone will be an unlocked 5G device and the company is aiming for broad global support, but it may not work on restrictive carriers such as Verizon.
