Explosive devices found at German power substation
German police discovered several homemade explosive devices at a power substation in the state of Brandenburg. No one was hurt and there is currently no direct threat to the public, police said.
On September 1, police in Germany discovered several homemade explosive devices at a substation near Turnow-Preilack in the federal state of Brandenburg. Officers found possible damage near a power transmission line, along with an unusual explosive and incendiary device attached to it.
The substation distributes electricity generated at the Jänschwalde power plant both regionally and nationwide. According to media reports cited by German public broadcaster ARD in its "Tagesschau" news program, the site may have been targeted more than once, with the possible goal of triggering a large-scale power outage at one of the units of the nearby coal-fired power plant.
Grid operator 50Hertz confirmed that no power supply disruptions occurred. Police are investigating the incident and said they are treating it very seriously. Authorities reported that no one was injured and there is currently no threat to the public.
