Germany's naval command has reported a successful test of the LORA ballistic missile developed by Israeli company Israel Aerospace Industries. The trial took place in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean, with the missile reaching a maximum range of 500 kilometers.

German navy chief Jan Christian Kaack announced the results, stating that German units are able to successfully deploy the system and that its potential range exceeds anything previously seen. According to him, the test marks a new stage in deterrence and naval defense readiness for Germany and its allies.

No domestic equivalent

Germany currently has no comparable strike weapons of its own. The only missile in its arsenal with a range of several hundred kilometers is the air-launched Taurus cruise missile. An upgraded version of Taurus is also under development, with production planned to begin in 2029.

It is recalled that on July 13, an "anti-ballistic coalition" began work in Paris on building a European missile defense system.
