In a short interview tied to the retreat, Matthias Miersch, leader of the Social Democratic Party's (SPD) parliamentary group, addressed the political outlook for the coming months. After France's attempt to impose a blanket ban on social media use by young people fell through, attention has turned to the comparable but more fragmented debate underway in Germany and at the EU level.
