Over 1,200 National Armed Defence Service recruits sworn in across Latvia

On Friday, September 4, at exactly 11:00, a solemn ceremony took place simultaneously in several cities across Latvia, where more than 1,200 National Armed Defence Service (VAD) recruits took their military oath, pledging to carry out their duties as service members and to defend their country.

The event was covered in the LSM program "Обсудим вечером" ("Let's discuss it tonight"). It was noted that for these young people, this was one of the most significant moments of their service.

A first for the Military Police

It was specifically highlighted that this was the first time the Military Police itself administered the oath to VAD recruits. Taking the oath is a symbolic step through which new service members formally confirm their commitment and readiness to fulfil military service.

The ceremony took place at the same time in multiple Latvian cities, underscoring the national scale of the event and the wide involvement of young people in the National Armed Defence Service this year.
