Tonight’s TV: Welsh choirs, emergency wards and a spelling bee
The evening’s television line-up includes a new documentary about Welsh male voice choirs, hospital reality shows, a cyber-thriller, a comedy spelling bee and a look at a funeral home scandal.

Voices of the Valleys (Sky Arts) begins a three-part documentary celebrating Welsh male voice choirs. The series follows choirs as they compete across Wales and explores their role in local communities. The first episode features the Beaufort Male Choir; tenor and soloist Callum Rees is shown putting his busking earnings into the choir.
In Casualty 24/7: Every Second Counts (Channel 5), cameras at Barnsley’s accident and emergency department follow ward sister Jo. The episode focuses on the oldest and youngest patients: elderly people arrive with fainting, suspected strokes and heart problems, while a three-year-old with a cut lip may need to be moved to Sheffield.
The Undeclared War (Channel 4) reaches its penultimate episode. Although Peter Kosminsky’s cyber-thriller fails to ignite fully, it is smouldering by the end: Danny, Saara and Roz join forces to help Vadim escape, and Danny makes a discovery that changes everything.
999: Critical Condition (Channel 5) is set at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, where teams deal with life-changing injuries. Among those treated is Graham, a pensioner who needs a complex operation to remove a dangerous inner-ear tumour before it causes a coma.
Guy Montgomery’s Guy Mont-Spelling Bee (BBC Three) returns for a second series. Tom Walker is back to defend his title, facing unexpected competition from Hannah Gadsby and Lloyd Langford. The show keeps its retro 1970s style, with a ridiculous job-title guessing game and the challenge of spelling audience members’ names.
The Big Cases: The Funeral Home Horror (BBC Two) investigates the case of undertaker Robert Bush, who was recently in court for selling fake funeral plans, giving relatives the ashes of strangers and preventing proper burials. Those affected are now campaigning for legal changes.
Sport fans can watch The Hundred cricket on BBC Two: Trent Rockets Women face Birmingham Phoenix Women at 2.45pm, followed by the men’s match at 6pm.
