Wakefield snatch last-gasp victory over Huddersfield
Josh Rourke's intercept try in the final minute secured a 29-23 win for Wakefield against Super League bottom side Huddersfield Giants, who suffered their ninth consecutive defeat.

In a Betfred Super League thriller, Wakefield Trinity edged out the Huddersfield Giants 29-23 thanks to a dramatic last-minute interception try by Josh Rourke. The match saw multiple lead changes and ended with heartbreak for Huddersfield, who have now lost nine straight games.
Wakefield started strongly, with Tom Johnstone and Mike McMeeken touching down to give the hosts a 10-0 lead. However, Huddersfield responded with two tries in four minutes from Jacob Gagai and Cole Geyer to level the scores. Jack Sinfield, making his first Super League try since joining from Leeds in the off-season, restored Wakefield's advantage at 16-12 just before halftime.
The second half began with Huddersfield's Olly Russell kicking a 40/20, and Asher O'Donnell crashed over to put the Giants ahead 18-16. A Max Jowitt penalty, awarded after a high shot on McMeeken, drew Wakefield level. Rourke then showed great strength to fend off three defenders and score in the corner, making it 22-18. But Adam Swift cut in from the left edge to ground the ball and level the scores again at 22-22.
Sinfield's drop-goal edged Wakefield back in front, only for Russell to match it with a long-range effort, setting up a tense finish. With one minute left, Russell threw a pass that was intercepted by Rourke, who outran the chasers to score the winning try under the posts.
Wakefield moved back up to fourth place, four points clear of seventh-placed Leigh Leopards. Huddersfield will face York Knights at the Magic Weekend next Saturday, while Daryl Powell's men play his former side Castleford on Sunday.
