Government allocates nearly six million euros for adult hospice care at home
Latvia's government on Tuesday approved a Welfare Ministry proposal to direct 5.85 million euros from contingency funds toward home hospice care for adult patients. The funding, prompted by rising demand, will cover the service from August through November this year.
Latvia's government on Tuesday approved a draft order prepared by the Ministry of Welfare allocating 5.85 million euros from the state budget's contingency funds programme.
The money is intended to ensure hospice care for adult patients in their place of residence during the period from August to November this year.
Rising demand
The additional funding was allocated because demand for home hospice care has been growing. The service allows seriously ill adult patients to receive the necessary care in their own homes rather than in a hospital setting.
The government reviewed and approved the draft order during its regular Tuesday meeting.
