Shed Fire in Valka Triggers Criminal Investigation
Over the past 24 hours, firefighters in Vidzeme extinguished one fire – a shed in Valka. A criminal process has been launched to investigate the incident.

The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) Vidzeme Regional Administration received eight calls between 6:30 AM on July 20 and 6:30 AM on July 21. Among them, one was for a fire, six for rescue operations, and one turned out to be a false alarm.
Yesterday, at 9:34 PM, firefighters and police responded to a call on Lauktehnikas Street in Valka, where a one-story shed covering 12 square meters was burning. The fire was extinguished by 11:02 PM. A criminal investigation has been initiated to determine the cause and identify those responsible.
During the same period, three calls were received in Vidzeme about fallen trees blocking roads. These occurred on Tērbatas and Raiņa streets in Valmiera, as well as in Valmiera Parish of Valmiera Municipality.
Across Latvia, VUGD received a total of 61 calls: seven for firefighting, 40 for rescue operations, and 14 were false alarms.
