Valkovskis scores as Lemgo wins German handball league match
Latvian handball player Jānis Valkovskis helped Lemgo defeat Wetzlar in the second round of Germany's Bundesliga. A day earlier, Dainis Krištopāns also scored a goal for Melsungen.

Latvian handball player Jānis Valkovskis took part in a second-round German Bundesliga match on Thursday, as his team Lemgo defeated Wetzlar 31:27 at home. The hosts led decisively at halftime, 16:9.
Valkovskis was on the court for seven minutes, converting one of his two shot attempts while committing two turnovers. The home team's top scorer was Tim Suton, who netted eight goals.
Krištopāns scores a day earlier
On Wednesday, Latvian handball player Dainis Krištopāns also scored a goal while playing for Melsungen. His team won 31:18 at home against Goppingen, leading 14:10 at the break.
Both Lemgo and Melsungen have now recorded one win each after two rounds of the season. Last season, Lemgo finished fifth, while Melsungen placed seventh among 18 teams.
