Car Donated by Valmiera Residents Heads to Ukraine; New Fundraiser for Starlink Kits for Robots

On July 9, a car purchased with donations from Valmiera county residents and businesses was sent to Ukraine with a food cargo. A new campaign has started to raise funds for Starlink satellite internet kits for logistics robots.

Another vehicle funded by donors from Valmiera county was ceremonially dispatched to Ukraine on July 9. On July 10, it will join the "Twitter convoy" in Riga and head to military unit A74000.

The car was filled with non-perishable food items: meat and fish cans, instant soups, breakfast cereals, coffee, condensed milk, and other products. The company "VALPRO" donated fuel canisters.

With the conclusion of this campaign, a new fundraising drive has begun in partnership with other organizations to purchase Starlink satellite internet kits. These are intended for unmanned ground logistics robots built by Ukrainian soldiers of an assault battalion. The robots deliver ammunition, water, food, and medicine to troops in dangerous combat zones and evacuate the wounded. To ensure stable control even under enemy electronic warfare, the robots need compact Starlink Mini systems.

Aid coordination is handled by the Ukrainian Association of Small Cities representation in Latvia together with Valmiera county municipality, the Valmiera County Foundation, and the Valmiera Development Agency. Donations can be made online at ukraine-vidzeme.lv/donation or by bank transfer to the Valmiera County Foundation account LV09HABA0551022993220 with the purpose "Support for Ukraine".
