Car runs off road and overturns in Valmiera parish
On Friday, a passenger car ran off the road and overturned in Valmiera parish, and firefighters freed the person inside before handing them over to paramedics.

A car accident occurred on Friday in Valmiera parish, Latvia, when a passenger vehicle ran off the road and flipped onto its side, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) reported.
Responding rescuers first disconnected the car's battery terminals as a safety precaution, then extracted the person trapped inside. The injured individual was subsequently handed over to emergency medical personnel for treatment.
Separate incident in South Kurzeme
The previous day at around 4 p.m., the fire service received another call, this time to the Otaņķi parish in the South Kurzeme municipality, where a person had gotten lost in a forest. Rescuers used the sound signal of a water tanker truck to guide the person, who was successfully located and led out of the woods.
Daily call statistics
The fire service noted that no one was injured or killed in fires on Friday. In total, VUGD received 50 calls over the previous day — 13 related to firefighting, 29 to rescue operations, while eight calls turned out to be false alarms.
