Rescuers Free Trapped Rubber Boat, Save Two People in Lake; VUGD Releases 24-Hour Statistics
On Saturday, rescuers in the Valka region of Valmiera county successfully saved two people whose rubber boat was trapped between islands. Over the past 24 hours, VUGD received a total of 47 calls.

On Saturday at 1:48 PM, the State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) received a call to the Valka region of Valmiera county, where a rubber boat was stuck between islands in a lake. Two people were on board and unable to free the boat or reach the shore on their own.
Rescuers arrived at the scene and used two motorboats and hand tools to release the trapped boat. They then safely transported both individuals to the shore. The operation was completed at 3:01 PM.
In the last 24 hours, VUGD recorded a total of 47 calls. Of these, 14 were firefighting incidents, including one forest fire. Another 25 calls were for rescue operations, while eight calls turned out to be false alarms. VUGD noted that no fires causing injuries, rescues, or fatalities were reported in Latvia during that period.
