Free creative workshops for children and youth to be held at Valmiermuiža this summer
An intergenerational workshop series called 'RAdiDAri' is taking place at the Valmiermuiža park outdoor classroom, letting children and young people explore local heritage through art. The sessions are free but require advance registration.
The outdoor classroom in Valmiermuiža park is hosting an intergenerational workshop series called 'RAdiDAri', inviting children and young people to discover the local cultural heritage of Valmiermuiža through hands-on artistic creation. The sessions are free of charge, offering a meaningful way to spend free time while learning new skills.
The series revives Valmiermuiža's historical educational traditions in a modern format. Participants will explore the manor's architecture, historical patterns and surrounding nature, transforming what they learn into practical design and art pieces.
Workshop schedule
On August 12, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, a session titled 'Play of Light. Stories of the Manor's Stained Glass' will have participants study the historical shapes of the manor's windows and create their own stained-glass piece using colored film and paper.
On August 26 and September 19, a session called 'Pattern Prints. Stamps' will use specially made stamps featuring fragments of historical wall painting patterns from the Valmiermuiža tower to create unique paper and fabric designs. Each participant will end up making their own unique bag, with screen-printing workshops possibly involving a small fee for the bag.
The workshops are intended for children and young people aged 7 to 15. Space is limited to 15 participants, and advance online registration is required.
The Valmiermuiža outdoor classroom is a modern pavilion with movable seating for up to 30 people, available free of charge for other events and activities as well. The workshop series is organized by the Valmiermuiža Cultural Association with support from Valmiera Municipality and the Valmiermuiža brewery.
