Head of State Chancellery department leaves post for academic career

Solvita Denisa-Liepniece, who headed the Strategic Communication and Coordination Department of the State Chancellery and was responsible for the security of the information space, has left her post as of Thursday, 6 August. The State Chancellery told the LETA news agency that she stepped down to continue her academic career and devote more time to research. The information was obtained by LETA from the State Chancellery.

Denisa-Liepniece had been leading the department in charge of strategic communication and coordination. Herdecision means she will now move away from administrative duties and focus on academic and research work. No further details have been made public about her specific research interests or the academic institutions she plans to join. It has also not been announced who will take over leadership of the department.

The change took effect on 6 August, and as of that date Denisa-Liepniece no longer carries out the duties of department head. In its explanation to LETA, the State Chancellery said the departure was linked to her desire to return to academia and pay more attention to research. No additional reasons were given.

At the moment, it is unclear how the department's work will be organised after her exit and whether a new head will be appointed.
