Under a support program run by the State Support Services Centre (RTK) and funded by the Rescue Department, 105 apartment associations across Estonia will receive a total of €780,000 to improve the crisis resilience of their buildings, RTK's press office announced on Thursday, July 9.

With the allocated funds, associations will be able to purchase generators, establish emergency power supply systems, and conduct audits of electrical installations. In total, 109 generators are planned for purchase, of which 22 will be stationary and 87 portable.

According to Janika Usin, head of the Rescue Department's prevention division, interest among apartment associations in enhancing crisis preparedness is growing year by year. Generators will help residents of apartment buildings cope with potential power outages caused by bad weather or major accidents in the energy system.

Support for individual projects ranged from €779 to €10,000, depending on the specific needs of each building—from buying a single portable generator to carrying out associated construction work and technical inspections.

The application period began on April 27 and ended after the available funding was exhausted.
