Third roof-raising ceremony marks progress at Valterciems housing project
The third building at Riga's Valterciems residential project has celebrated its roof-raising ceremony, with most apartments in the first phase already sold or reserved. The project, worth €80 million, is due for completion by 2033.

The third building of the Valterciems residential project in Riga has marked its roof-raising ceremony, a milestone signaling the near-completion shape of the project's first quarter. According to development manager Kristaps Žvīgulis, the first quarter consists of three matching six-storey buildings connected by a shared green courtyard featuring walking paths and communal recreation and play areas.
In later stages, additional apartment buildings will join the development, with their courtyards gradually linking around a large central recreation zone. Developers intend to continue the nature theme introduced in the first quarter, incorporating bird motifs into the landscaping of future buildings as well.
Strong buyer demand
Žvīgulis noted that sales figures reflect strong interest in the project. In the first building, 98% of apartments have already been sold or reserved, while the second building, due to be commissioned this autumn, has reached 96%. The third building, where the roof-raising was just celebrated, has found buyers for 73% of its apartments. Interest also remains high in the project's second phase, covering the fourth and fifth buildings, where more than half of the apartments are already sold or reserved.
Energy efficiency and sustainability
Solar panels are planned for the roofs of all buildings in the development, while courtyards will include bicycle parking and car parking spaces, some equipped with electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Each apartment will also have a ventilation system with heat recovery.
The Valterciems project is expected to be fully completed by 2033, adding 800 modern, energy-efficient apartments to Riga's housing stock. Total investment in the project amounts to €80 million.
