Vārna takes fifth place in most prestigious course at Inčukalns World Cup show jumping

Latvian rider Vārna with horse Carloni finished fifth in the most prestigious course of the first day of the World Cup show jumping competition in Inčukalns on Friday.

The first day of the World Cup show jumping competition in Inčukalns featured six courses on Friday. In the most prestigious "CSI12*-W Diamond Tour" course with obstacles at 140 cm, Polish rider Damjan Ostrega riding "Valencia Volo" took the win with a clear round in 28.75 seconds.

Second and third places went to Finnish riders: John Antell on "l'Intouchable" (29.49 seconds) and Petra Heikkinen on "Oechie-K" (30.66 seconds). Latvian rider Vārna, riding "Carloni", finished fifth with a clear round in 32.14 seconds.

Among other Latvian participants, Laura Penele on "Let's Fly Z" placed sixth, Aleksandrs Šakurovs on "Fillmore DB" tenth, and Kristaps Neretnieks on "Corlansky-Pro" – despite the fastest time of 27.53 seconds – accumulated four faults and ended 13th.

The day also saw the "CSI2*-W Gold tour" with 130 cm obstacles, where Ostrega again triumphed among 31 riders, this time on "Corneto Plus-S".

Competition continues on Saturday starting at 9:00 AM with a 145 cm course, and concludes on Sunday at 8:00 AM with the Grand Prix featuring 155 cm obstacles. A total of 121 riders from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Finland are participating, also competing for qualification to the European Championship.
