Goalie from Ogre: Linards Feldbergs and Latvia's U-20 Historic Win Over Canada

Latvia's junior hockey goalie Linards Feldbergs from Ogre recalls the historic late-2024 victory over Canada, where he made 55 saves.

At the end of 2024, the Latvian U-20 national hockey team defeated their Canadian counterparts for the first time in history. In that match, goalie Linards Feldbergs, a native of Ogre, stopped 55 shots, drawing attention from the entire hockey world.

In an interview with Latvian Television, Feldbergs admitted that memories of that victory give him strength every day to keep moving forward. He emphasized that the win is especially significant – it proves that young Latvian hockey players can compete with the world’s strongest teams.

Feldbergs was born in Ogre, where he began his hockey journey. His talent and perseverance have led him to international recognition. He is now one of Latvia's most promising goalkeepers, and his performance against Canada has become an inspiration for many young players.
