Summer – the Perfect Time to Discover Latvia's Castles and Manors
There is no exact count of castles and manors in Latvia, but their cultural heritage is significant. The association encourages visiting them in summer.
In Latvia, there is still no precise number that would answer how many castles and manors the country has had. Over the centuries, these buildings have been rebuilt, expanded, merged, or even lost, yet the cultural and historical heritage remains in many places across Latvia.
Roberts Grinbergs, president of the Latvian Castles and Manors Association, spoke about this heritage and the people who give these historic buildings a second life, as well as the annual initiative to tour castles and manors, on Latvian Radio's program "Atspere." Summer is the ideal time to explore these sites and learn about their history.
