Summer in Latvia: Preparing for Līgo and Outdoor Dances

In mid-June, all of Latvia prepares for the biggest summer celebration – Līgo. People weave wreaths, prepare Jāņi cheese, and stock up on firewood for bonfires. Another tradition without which a Latvian summer is unimaginable is zaļumballes – open-air dances with live music.
